Why didn’t he do that 15 episodes ago? Who knows, probably because the producers didn’t think they’d get immediately picked up for more episodes and that Tommy would prove to be that popular, and keep that second part in mind come next season. We meet the Rangers’ parents and Zordon “temporarily” restores Tommy’s Green Ranger powers. This is the first episode to feature evil doppelgängers of the Power Rangers Rita sends down Twin Man and four putties disguised as the Rangers to sully their good name. This is a great character development episode and also includes one of the best shots where you can see Walter Jones’, Zack, missing middle finger. The Rangers are trapped in another dimension on an island where they all face they’re greatest fears. These are episodes I don’t consider to be essential to the storyline of the season but can add to the overall experience of the season and may explain why thing thought done are back in Season Two. Ending with the Rangers deciding to keep their powers and an uncredited appearance of Tommy, this episode wraps up the season’s storyline excellently. The Ranger become overwhelmed in their first encounter but eventually discover their enemies’ weaknesses and switch between the various forms of the Megazord to save the day. In the intended season/series finale, Angel Grove celebrates Power Ranger Day and Rita summons the evil Lokar and grants Goldar his own zord, Cyclopsis. The episode also features a great fight between an unmorphed Jason and Goldar and Tommy passes on his Power Coin to Jason, giving him the Dragon Shield Dragon Dagger and command of the Dragonzord.
Rita reveals her green candle that saps away Tommy’s powers as it burns and the Rangers struggle to retrieve the candle from her dark dimension before it’s too late.
Also a good episode to keep in mind come next season. Also the first time that Jason is temporarily given the Dragon Shield. The introduction of Titanus and a great Jason/Tommy team up episode that also demonstrates the rivalry between the two characters. Rita brainwash the new kid in town, Tommy, to become her evil Green Power Ranger, and he kicks the Rangers’ asses and fucks up the Command Center, before they finally break the spell and he joins them in their fight against evil The five part storyline that introduced us to Tommy, the Green Ranger, as well as Scorpina and the Dragonzord. The very first episode, in which Rita is released and Zordon calls upon Jason, Trini, Billy, Kimberly, and Zack to defend the Earth as the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
#LIST OF MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS EPISODES SEASON 1 SERIES#
And now, twenty years later, in the first of a year long series of articles leading, are what I consider to be the essential storyline episodes of the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Twenty years ago two astronauts accidentally released the evil sorcoress Rita Repulsa from her imprisonment and Zordon, the inter-dimensionally trapped wizard, commanded his robotic aide, Alpha 5, to summon five teenagers with attitude to become the the first team of Power Rangers.
